We are excited to announce that the Barracuda Web Application Firewall (WAF) is now available for Nutanix AHV. This means that that third-party hypervisors are no longer necessary to deploy a WAF Vx in the Nutanix environment. The Barracuda WAF can be deployed to the Nutanix AHV native Acropolis hypervisor via direct upload or inclusion in the Prism image repository. This creates more options and flexibility for infrastructure designers and helps them to provide cohesive design and operational symmetry throughout the organization.
The Barracuda Web Application Firewall protects websites and applications from advanced cyberthreats. A Barracuda WAF Vx deployed at the data center edge in a Nutanix AOS environment will secure the AOS hosted services from attacks like zero-day threats, data leakage, application-layer denial of service (DoS), and the OWASP Top 10 attacks. This is the same powerful protection provided by the Barracuda WAF Vx in any virtual ecosystem, including Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESXi, Citrix Xen, and KVM-based hypervisors.
Driving force for a connected ecosystem
IDC predicts that 82% of the revenues coming from digital transformation business models will be ecosystem enabled by 2021, primarily because specialized solutions with clearly defined use cases can often deliver better results for an organization. Strong ecosystem integrations are required by companies that need to protect themselves with cost-effective, best-in-class solutions that fit their specific needs.
Barracuda’s product integrations with various ecosystems enable customers to better protect, detect, and respond to cyberattacks from email, data, network, and application threat vectors.
Operational efficiency and cost optimization
Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) has been gaining momentum due to the lower total cost of ownership (TCO) it offers in comparison to converged infrastructure or legacy three-tier infrastructure design. Put simply, HCI is a software-defined IT infrastructure that combines computing, storage, and networking in a virtualized environment. Consolidating and managing these resources at the hypervisor level improves performance, reduces complexity, and maximizes the infrastructure return on investment (ROI).
The new Barracuda WAF integration with Nutanix AHV enables organizations to deploy the WAF directly to the existing HCI in order to protect hosted solutions or as-a-Service components. This is much more elegant and efficient than adding a third-party hypervisor to support a WAF Vx, and there’s no need to sacrifice any functionality to take advantage of this new integration.
The Barracuda WAF supports all the features of Nutanix AHV such as snapshots, migration, clustering, and cloning of VMs. Licensing requirements are taken care of by online and offline licensing activation. Existing customers can even keep their current configurations and either migrate directly to AOS or create a new image on AOS and upload a backup of the configuration file.
The Barracuda WAF integration with Nutanix AHV has been engineered with performance, efficiency, This helps in achieving connected or private datacenter/hosting requirements while keeping capital and operational expenses low.
Barracuda WAF advantage
Deploying a Barracuda WAF Vx to Nutanix AHV is simple. We offer a free evaluation of the Barracuda WAF Vx for you to try in your own Nutanix AHV environment for 30-days. Existing customers can easily migrate their current WAF Vx images directly to AOS, or they can use their WAF Vx backup configuration file to transfer the settings to a new image.
